We are giving this place two stars because at least one employee was nice and looked us in the face. We’d only been seated with our menus for less than a minute when our waitress/server came to take our order. We weren’t ready to order, so she came back about three minutes later. Again, we weren’t quite ready. We are from out-of-state and unfamiliar with menu. She was high energy, impersonal and we felt like an inconvenience to her because she was going to have to come back again. She came back nearly ten minutes later. The food was nothing to write home about. The cheese in my omelet tasted processed. The potatoes were so greasy, I couldn’t actually taste the potato flavor. The bread was advertised as whole wheat. It is not. The waitress came back after serving our food to “check on us.” She asked if everything was okay, but never looked us in the face, she was so distracted with other guests near us and what the other employees were doing. The two of us had food in our mouths and as she was asking about us, poured more coffee, looking across the room, and never waited for us to respond before moving away. My traveling companion noted, “She obviously uses that pat language and didn’t care one bit if we were okay.” As I mentioned, there was at least one employee that was sweet & welcomed us when we came in to the diner. This was not our favorite dining experience on our three week trek across the U. S. In addition, there was this tacky sign posted to the register when you paid for your ticket/bill. “God knows when you don’t tip.”

I adore this place. I often come specifically for the multigrain pancakes ("David's"). Today I ordered them filled with blueberries and with maple syrup. My companion loved them too.

Convenient when driving through CT on Merritt Parkway. Good food and service. All the diner favorites are there.
